What Is a TRC20 Wallet Address?

A TRC20 wallet address is a unique alphanumeric identifier used to send and receive TRC20 tokens on the TRON blockchain. Every address starts with the capital letter "T" and is exactly 34 characters long, combining uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and numbers.

Example of a real TRC20 address: TR7NHqjeKQxGTCi8q8ZY4pL8otSzgjLj6t

This address functions as the digital equivalent of a bank account number. You can share it freely with anyone who needs to send you TRC20 tokens — it does not expose your private keys.

TRC20 Address Format

Every TRC20 address follows a fixed structure:

  • Starts with the capital letter T
  • Exactly 34 characters in total length
  • Mix of uppercase letters (A–Z), lowercase letters (a–z), and digits (0–9)
  • Base58Check encoding — the same encoding used by Bitcoin addresses

Because the address begins with "T", it is immediately distinguishable from Ethereum/ERC20 addresses (which start with "0x") and BNB Smart Chain/BEP20 addresses (also "0x").

What Is TRC20?

TRC20 is a technical standard for creating fungible tokens on the TRON blockchain, similar in concept to Ethereum's ERC20 standard. It governs how tokens behave — how they are transferred, how balances are tracked, and how smart contracts interact with them.

The most widely used TRC20 token is USDT (Tether), the world's leading stablecoin. USDT on the TRC20 network benefits from TRON's high transaction throughput and near-zero fees — typically less than $0.01 per transfer, compared to Ethereum gas fees that can exceed several dollars during peak usage.

TRC20 vs ERC20 Address

Both standards allow you to create and transfer tokens, but they run on different blockchains:

  • TRC20 (TRON) — Address starts with "T"; fees under $0.01; block confirmation in under 1 minute.
  • ERC20 (Ethereum) — Address starts with "0x"; gas fees can be $1–$50+; block confirmation ~15 seconds to several minutes.
  • BEP20 (BNB Chain) — Address starts with "0x" (same format as ERC20); low fees; part of the Binance ecosystem.

Always verify the correct network before sending tokens. Sending USDT to a TRC20 address using the ERC20 network (or vice versa) can result in permanent loss of funds.
